ABOUT STODDARD HONEY
Our History
Stoddard Honey Co. was established back in 1947 by Stephen Oran Stoddard and eventually passed on to his son Stephen Edward Stoddard, who in turn passed it down to his son in law Logan and Logan’s brother Brian who run it today. We run approximately 3,000 hives.
We operate approximately 3,000 colonies of bees, which are used for honey production, as well as in helping to pollinate California’s extensive almond groves. We transport our bees from Delta, UT to California, Nevada, and South Dakota.
We specialize in the lighter grades of honey and do not purchase honey from any other source.
Much of our honey is shipped to major packers in 55 gallon drums. However, we save some of our finest honey to be sold to the public. At Stoddard Honey we take extreme pride in making sure you get the finest quality honey. Our honey is “The way it used to be!”
Family business continues...
Sweet honey of South Dakota
The rolling hills of South Dakota bring the rich nectar of Sweet Clover. One of our most sought after honey flavors. It’s one of the lightest honeys produced by honey bees. Sweet clover can grow six feet tall and comes in two main varieties, yellow and white blossoms. When in full bloom the fragrant aroma is hard to miss. Unfortunately sweet clover only grows under the right conditions since it’s a wild plant. It needs lots of moisture to thrive. On average sweet clover is abundant on three out of five years. So buy it while it’s available.
Process of making honey
Our honey goes through a meticulous extracting process to give you the best honey possible. First off our honey is never heated above ambient Utah temperatures. This keeps all the natural qualities and health benefits in the honey. Our honey is processed on equipment made from food grade stainless steel to maintain maximum cleanliness. After it’s extracted and put into large storage tanks we allow it to settle for 10 days. Since our honey is raw some very small pollen or wax particles may be present. Pollen has great health and allergy benefits. Once it’s settled it’s ready to drain into the desired container.
